Star Trek and MAC

So lately I have been looking at a variety of makeups and styles and such... but I think MAC may have just won me over by attacking my geek heart with blasters on full! (image: Star Trek)

This summer MAC is releasing a Star Trek inspired line of makeup. This line will focus on four of the most prominent female characters in Trek history (or at least four of the females that were viewed as sexiest... I don't see a Janeway makeup...) Deanna Troi, Uhura, Seven of Nine and the Orion Girl, Vina (okay I had to look up who Vina was).

This line up will include 25 pieces encompassing lip, eye and face makeup.
MAC creative director James Gager said in a statement. "For its 50th anniversary, we celebrate each of Star Trek's powerful women in a transcending, transformational makeup collection." Star Trek
With looking at the picture of some of the products (pictured above) I'm actually a little worried about all the sparkle and shimmer in EVERYTHING. Just becuase you are futuristic doesn't mean you need to be sparkly. What is it with people adopting pop culture sci-fi and making it sprakle. Okay, I'm a little biased being I have a sparkle allergy (yes, it's true and not make up, I'm allergic to something in the glitter... the metallic I think but I'm not really sure... and rashes on your face suck! Just saying). I find it hard sometimes to find cool stuff that doesn't sparkle, but I'll have to wait till they have the full line released to be sure.

So what do you think of Geeky Culture appropriation by makeup companies?? I think it's pretty cool... but some of my favourite female characters aren't ones that wore a lot of makeup like Deanna Troi... Beverly Crusher, Janeway, B'lanna Tores and Jadzia Dax (I want spots LOL).

Don't forget... 2 days left to sign up for my giveaway... winners announced on FRIDAY!!!

Keep on, Geekin' on
