Cosplay: Buy vs. Make

As I have grown over the past year, one thing I notice I get asked a lot is whether I make my own costumes or buy them. I will be completely honest, it depends on the costume. I see a lot of discussion about this in the cosplay world. Some people think you aren’t a “real” cosplayer if you don’t make your outfit, but that just isn’t practical or fair. Do I have mad respect for people who make 100% of their own outfits? Absolutely, but I don’t think that buying a costume makes you any less of a cosplayer.

Over the years I have watched my fair share of television programs, I have shelves upon shelves of book and even a fair collection of movies. We often talk about programs that everyone “has to watch/read/see” but we don’t often discuss our needs to stop watching some programs as well. I have to admit first off, I have a slight obsession with everything dark and gothy. There’s something fun and creepy all at the same time when dealing with the odd.  So recently I watched Addams Family Values. What better show is there to watch in the middle of the summer when summer camps are in full swing. Well it got me thinking.
